About Us - Welcome

Dear potential applicant,

Head of Apprenticeships & Business Development

Thank you for taking an interest in this very important role. On behalf of the Governors and Executive Team, we would like to encourage you to consider the opportunity to become the next Head of Apprenticeships & Business Development at Bradford College. If you feel that you would be a good fit, then we would be very pleased to receive an application from you.

After a turbulent period, where the College found itself subject to FE Commissioner intervention with a financial notice to improve and an Ofsted judgement of ‘Requires Improvement’, the College is now well on the road to recovery. We are no longer in FE Commissioner intervention, our financial notice to improve has been lifted and we have been judged ‘Good’ by Ofsted.

We are extremely focused and have a one-college approach supporting our vision of Working Together to Transform Lives. We are doing this through the delivery of our strategic objectives:

  • To become a truly inclusive college.
  • To deliver an outstanding student experience.
  • To deliver a curriculum that meets the needs of students, employers and our community.
  • To become an employer of choice.
  • Maintain a sustainable college.
  • To grow the college's income through student recruitment.
  • To empower education through digital transformation.

And through our values, which are the principles that guide the way we do things at Bradford College:

  • Respectful – supportive, empathetic, mindful
  • Inclusive – belonging, valued, understanding
  • Trust – credible, accountable, honest
  • Inspirational & Aspirational – passionate, ambition, belief, confident.

It is essential that any successful applicant supports our vision and is aligned to our values. Bradford College is firmly rooted in the community and has been for more than 185 years. Bradford is culturally diverse and boasts one of the youngest student populations in the country meaning we are forecasting a period of steady growth in years to come. We support almost 5,000 young people, 1,500 apprentices, over 1,000 degree and postgraduate learners and almost 10,000 adults every year and we are in the top 5 large providers for Apprenticeships in the country.

We boast fantastic facilities, industry-experienced staff and a vast range of career-focused courses designed to provide our students with a set of skills, understandings and personal attributes to be successful in their chosen career.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the departmental area of Apprenticeships & Business Development and responsible for delivering the departmental business plan and achieving departmental targets in relation to curriculum, student recruitment, quality, EDI, finance, people and corporate services. They will be the interface with our key stakeholders on all matters relating to apprenticeships and business development and will be able to continue to foster confidence in the College.

The successful applicant requires high motivation and drive, excellent organisation and great interpersonal skills. They will have the support of a highly committed and passionate Corporation and an enthusiastic and skilled executive team who are equally committed to working together to transform lives.
