About Us - Welcome

May 2022

Dear Colleague

Deputy Principal Curriculum and Learners (Deputy CEO)

I am delighted that you are considering applying for this leadership vacancy at New College Swindon. I very much hope the information we have provided helps you decide on whether we are the right organisation for you.

New College Swindon is a vibrant and dynamic college, created by the merger of New College with Swindon College on 17 August 2020. We are committed to providing our learners with the best teaching and learning, facilities, enrichment, development opportunities and guidance support. Our aim is to help our learners achieve their own personal goals or ambitions – whether that’s to gain a university place, the career of their dreams, develop a new hobby or skills, or secure promotion.

In bringing the two colleges together, we had a very clear vision to create a future for world-class and sustainable further and higher education for our region. The merger was focused on the colleges, our staff and our learners growing together and seeing that growth and achievement feed into our local
economy, businesses and communities.

We have made much progress since bringing the two colleges together and, during that time, we have developed the Swindon and Wiltshire Institute of Technology, implemented a new range of systems and developed a shared purpose to deliver Better Lives Through Learning. We are clear about our priorities and these are structured around the key themes of great teaching, learning and progression, an innovative, relevant and responsive curriculum, great digital and physical learning environments, meeting employer and customer needs, financial sustainability to enable reinvestment and a great place to work.  We do all of this by being at the heart of our community.

The introduction of this new leadership role represents the next stage of our development. Whilst we have made good progress, our merged organisation is still very much on the first phase of its journey.  There is much work to do and this requires a leader who can innovate and transform practice in order to strengthen our position for years to come. We are now seeking an individual who has the experience, ambition and determination to make our college truly great across everything we do.

We have appointed FE Associates to support us to find the right person. Interested parties are advised to contact our recruitment partner, by emailing Suzanne.Thurlow@fea.co.uk, to discuss this exciting opportunity before the closing date.

As a leadership team, we are really excited about what the future holds for New College Swindon. If you are too, then I very much look forward to receiving your application.

With kind regards
Carole Kitching
Principal and Chief Executive Officer
