February 2021

Dear Candidate

Group Head of Curriculum Innovation for Construction Technologies

Thank you for your interest in the role of Group Head of Curriculum Innovation for Construction Technologies with NCG – one of the country’s largest college groups, embracing six general FE colleges and one sixth form college located across the North East, the North West, the Midlands and London.

This is a new and exciting role for us at NCG which recognises the opportunity we have to innovate and develop a contemporary and employer-focused offer in construction technologies that will position us as one of the leading education and training providers to the construction industry.

This role combines both strategic leadership and operational management because, as well as taking the lead for innovation and development of construction technologies across the Group, the post holder will also provide direct line management to curriculum provision at Kidderminster College, where a number of exciting developments are taking place in construction.

Our new Group Head will work closely with leaders and delivery staff from across the Group and will build excellent collaborative networks that promote and deliver innovation in our offer. In addition, the post holder will build excellent external networks with employers, industry bodies, LEPs and other stakeholder bodies to ensure that our curriculum is evolving to meet the skills required by industry.

In this role, we are looking for someone with a demonstrable track record in rethinking and reshaping curriculum in construction technologies. We want someone who can demonstrate to us that, because of their leadership, things are now done differently, new skills are being developed in students and trainees, and new relationships have been established with employers. This does not mean we are only interested in professionals from colleges or training organisations. You may be a learning and development lead or training manager for a leading construction company; you may be from the university sector with a track record in higher level skills delivery; or you may be an industry specialist that works with one of the construction sector’s representative bodies. What is most important, is that you can prove to us that you know what the industry needs, know how to deliver it and have the leadership skills and abilities to make it happen.

We have appointed FE Associates to support us with this new appointment and we highly recommend interested parties to have an initial discussion with our recruitment partner Matt.Atkinson@fea.co.uk, ahead of the closing date and prior to submitting an application.

If you feel you have the track record, skills and forward-thinking leadership required, we look forward to receiving your application.

Good luck!
