About Us - Welcome

March 2021

Dear Colleague

Quality Transformation Lead

With more than 50 years of experience, Nacro is a champion of social justice which helps nearly 40,000 people in England and Wales each year. We bring a wealth of experience and credibility within the further education and justice sectors, often leading pioneering work.

Nacro is one of the largest not-for-profit, independent education and training providers in the country and delivers through its 16-18 centres, college and in secure youth and adult settings. Rated Good by Ofsted, we continue to build on many years' experience in the further education and skills sector across the country, working with young people and children who face multiple or complex barriers to engagement in education.

We are delighted to have been selected to lead the delivery of the education and skills provision for children at Rainsbrook STC, a residential, 76-bed Secure Training Centre in Northamptonshire for adolescents (12-18 year olds). The children held at Rainsbrook are often the most vulnerable in the custodial system and have complex needs. This is a rewarding environment in which to work, where you can see the difference good education and skills training makes to the lives of children.

Nacro believes all children deserve quality education to give them the best chance to move on with their lives. We have delivered education, training and skills in multiple secure establishments, developing a vision of education that includes clear curriculum intent for personal success and progression, and quality delivery focused on individual need that supports positive behaviour and attitudes to learning.  We have experience of embedding this model within secure regimes, leading to improved outcomes for children and decreasing incidents.

Nacro will deliver a curriculum focused on progression and enabling children to succeed in learning in core subjects, through to vocational and technical courses, achieving qualifications to enable them to take the next step. Learners will be supported by a whole-centre approach, placing education at the heart of future success and will also have the opportunity to pursue their interests and extend the curriculum through an enrichment programme including arts and sport, project-based work and gain experience of work-ready skills through volunteering or placements.

In this new role, we are seeking to appoint an experienced education professional with a track record in leading transformational change and quality improvement within a school, further education provider or a secure setting. You will have a proven track record of results and impact, good experience of working with Ofsted and the inspection process, and of being a senior player in managing inspections on the ground. The post holder will work closely with fellow, newly-appointed, senior leaders along with the Head of Education and the team at Rainsbrook to move us to a position of excellence, transforming the quality of teaching, learning and assessment. As a motivational and inspirational teaching and learning professional who can demonstrate excellent communication skills and resilience, you will help communicate a shared vision, ethos and delivery plan that will inspire and engage all stakeholders, education staff and multi-disciplinary teams.

We are looking for someone who will create meaningful relationships with a broad range of stakeholders and play a key role in supporting a refreshed culture and delivery model, leading to outstanding outcomes for children whilst embedding Nacro’s quality improvement strategy and exciting initiatives to ensure Nacro maintains its reputation as an excellent provider of choice.

This is a crucial appointment for us and to help us to find the right person, we have retained the support of FE Associates. Interested parties are invited to arrange an initial discussion with our Lead Consultant, Jo.Johnston@fea.co.uk, ahead of the closing date and prior to submitting an application.
