Introduction

We are now seeking an experienced policy and research expert to ensure we are at the forefront of developments and positioned to succeed in the new world of further education and skills.

Dear Colleague,

Many thanks for your interest in the role of Director of Research, Innovation and Transformation with us here at MidKent College. In this brand new executive level role, which reports into me, we are looking for a policy and implementation specialist to lead our research and innovation activity with a view to positioning us as first choice for post-16 education and training across Medway and Maidstone. The introduction of this role will provide a high performing and determined professional, to play a key role in transforming and positioning us as an outstanding provider of further and higher education.

Our mission and purpose is to provide high-quality technical education and training, to drive the ambitions and prosperity of the communities of Medway, Maidstone and the surrounding areas, working in partnership to ensure our students have the skills and qualifications for the changing world of work.

Our mission is supported by three strategic priorities that underpin our vision and will guide our activities between 2020 and 2030. These priorities will help the leadership team to proactively make decisions about the future of the College, and ensure that we act in the best interests of the students, staff, and local communities, including employers. Our three strategic priorities are:

Community - MidKent College will contribute to the transformation of the communities of Medway, Maidstone and surrounding areas through working collaboratively to raise aspirations.

Given the amount of change in the sector, we need to ensure we are at the forefront of developments and our new Director of Research, Innovation and Transformation will work proactively to scan the external world, develop solutions in response to changes and lead the implementation of change programmes within the College.

As our lead professional researcher, you will undertake research activity on external developments and policy to inform decision-making, ensuring that we are well informed of current developments in education, employment and the economy. Moving beyond research, our new Director will develop innovative solutions to reposition our provision and services, and through expert project management abilities, you will develop and implement strategies and plans that embed new practices to transform the way we operate.
