About Us - Welcome

Dear colleague,

Thank you for your interest in the role of Vice Principal at Lewisham College, which is part of NCG – one of the country’s largest college groups, embracing six general FE colleges and one sixth form college located across the North East, the North West, the Midlands and London. NCG prides itself on its ever-improving college performance, with positive student engagement and outcomes being the driving ambition behind all that we do.

Lewisham College is the second largest college in the group, which has seen significant growth, improvement in outcomes over the past year and has an ambitious investment strategy to ensure the curriculum and resources are preparing individuals for the jobs of today and tomorrow, along with the transferable skills and behaviours for roles that don't yet exist. We seek to inspire our students to achieve more than they thought possible, and to do this we need great people to develop, lead and contribute to our plans and strategies.

The key focus of the role will be to lead and drive excellence in quality, student experience and outcomes, through an appropriate and future-ready curriculum that will serve their local, regional communities, and develop the local strategic direction and growth strategy in line with the Group’s Strategy Towards 2030. Launched during 2020, this strategy sets out our new mission and vision, our six strategic themes and our values, which underpin all that we do as a Group and as individual colleges.

The successful candidates will need to be able to demonstrate that their leadership and passion for excellence is underpinned by alignment with our values and commitment to NCG’s overarching strategy. They should be able to motivate, lead and inspire their colleagues and students to feel loyal to, and be part of, the wider learning organisation that is NCG by promoting the power of education in all that they do and fostering our ethos that we are ‘One NCG’. The challenge for the new Vice Principal - Lewisham College will be to build on the college’s strengths and quality enhancement journey by adding breadth and depth to the current curriculum offer, contributing to improving on the performance of the college and developing partnerships with employers and other local stakeholders, including those in HE and other FE providers, with a view to collaborating where possible for regional benefit.

The new Vice Principal joins at an exciting time, joining Lewisham College to support and work with a new Principal who has been in post for ten months, along with working with a brand new team of Assistant Principals. We believe that the Vice Principal role is an exciting opportunity for candidates from a curriculum background, who have the ambition, innovation and determination to succeed within a dynamic and forward-looking organisation.

We have retained FE Associates to support us with this important appointment and we advise interested parties to arrange an initial conversation with our recruitment partner, by emailing Jo.Johnston@fea.co.uk in advance of the closing date and prior to submitting an application.
