About Us - Welcome

Dear Colleague

Group Director - Marketing and Student Recruitment

Thank you for your interest in the Group Director - Marketing and Student Recruitment role working across our College campuses. New City College is a large, successful further education college operating in the east of London and south Essex. Our College Group has come together over the last five years through mergers, creating a strong, coherent and ambitious college.

New City College serves more than 9000 students aged 16-18 and a further 20,000 adult learners. Our programmes are broad and our learners diverse in their backgrounds and prior experience. With strong finances and legacy Ofsted grade 2s, we are ambitious about the future.

Our College Group is organised on a matrix system. The successful candidate will lead their area across all campuses, shaping our culture, ethos and expectations.

We have committed to a Strategic Intent which sets out our bold plans for a newly shaped and responsive curriculum, and a roadmap towards a more efficient, proactive and agile organisation. I would encourage you to read that document to gain a sense of what we are about.

We are looking for an experienced FE leader who is ready for this challenge at Group Management level. The ideal candidate will be a creative, experienced and ambitious marketing professional with knowledge of the FE sector and an understanding of student recruitment. With a comprehensive knowledge of relevant marketing and promotional channels and opportunities, as well as a commitment to keeping up with the fast-paced developments in the further education sector and the marketing world, you will be able to position NCC as first choice, driving potential students to us in their thousands. You will lead effective enquiry and recruitment processes and smash conversion rates, exceeding the College's challenging income targets.

You will have a marketing or related degree and, ideally, a relevant CIM qualification or chartered/fellow status. You will also be experienced and effective at managing diverse staff teams and cross-organisational working groups in a large, complex organisation.

You will join a dynamic and resilient team who care passionately about their work. If you believe that you could build upon and lead with passion, then I urge you to apply.

This is an important appointment and to help us to find the right person, we have retained the support of FE Associates. Prior to submitting an application, interested parties are advised to arrange an initial conversation with our lead consultant, by emailing Suzanne.Thurlow@fea.co.uk, to discuss the role and schedule a first-stage interview via Teams, to take place ahead of the closing date.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully

Gerry McDonald
Group Principal & CEO
