About Us - Welcome

Dear Colleague

I want to thank you for your interest in joining us in this key leadership role at City Lit.

This is a newly created role and will be critical in both developing our curriculum in Skills, Employment and Wellbeing, as well as supporting the delivery of the College’s strategic objectives. Covering an exciting and diverse portfolio, the Head of School will work to look at the scope and impact of the curriculum and, with a team of committed programme managers, ensure this continues to evolve to meet the needs of students. Key to this role will be ensuring our offer responds to national, London and employer priorities. If you are committed to working with an organisation with high aspirations, then I would love to hear from you.

The student is at the heart of everything we do, and our values underpin all this - Ambitious, Imaginative and Open Hearted. Our staff are focused on high aspirations, innovation, leadership, action, collaboration, teamwork and respect to support our student's journey.

If you are passionate about adult education, have the ability to lead and motivate a team and can demonstrate experience of strategic curriculum development, then this is a fantastic opportunity for you to enable current and future students to enrich their lives through learning.

All of our teams and individual members of staff need to be ambitious, imaginative and open hearted in mindset, and agile in how we respond to the internal and external needs of students, staff, employers and strategic stakeholders. If you believe you possess the abilities and skills to succeed in this management level role, and you have the energy and pace to make a significant impact on the long-term success of the College, you will fit in well here.

As our new Head of School - Skills, Employment and Wellbeing, you will bring a track record of improving the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, and you will use your strong leadership skills to earn the trust and respect of colleagues from across the organisation. Whilst you will provide strategic and operational leadership across a specific curriculum portfolio, we expect you to contribute across the College and to use your insights to support and challenge us to improve further. It is important that you have a deep understanding of our context and the students and communities we serve, and that you can leverage your expertise to move us further forward. You will need to be agile and comfortable working at pace, as well as being accountable for the deliverables of the role. Whilst this is a broad leadership role, we will want you to be highly successful in driving continued quality improvement, providing strategic direction for curriculum design, introducing new innovations that can drive growth and developing your people.

We have retained FE Associates to support us with this important appointment. Prior to submitting an application, interested parties are advised to arrange an initial discussion with either of our lead consultants, by emailing Jo.Johnston@fea.co.uk or Amanda.Hart@fea.o.uk, to discuss the role and schedule a first-stage interview via Teams, to take place before the closing date.

I look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to the College.

With best wishes

Wendy McKaig
