About Us - Welcome

Dear colleague,

Deputy Principal

We are delighted that you are considering applying for the Deputy Principal post at Brockenhurst College. I was appointed as Principal and CEO to the College in June 2023 and am now looking for a capable and inspirational Deputy who will take a leading role, alongside other members of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), in taking the College forward to the next stage in its development.

This is a high-profile leadership role at the College that will have substantial operational and strategic responsibilities most notably in areas of quality and curriculum, workforce development, communications and IT and digital development. This is a new post at the College and, as a senior postholder, the successful applicant will have significant responsibility in taking forward agreed areas of the College’s strategic plan as well as deputising for the Principal where required.

As you would expect, the defining culture of the College is one of academic excellence and quality, alongside a strong culture of inclusion, respect and personal responsibility. Our values are entrenched in those associated with further education, with teaching and learning, alongside the broader experience of our students at all levels of study, being our highest priority. At our most recent Ofsted inspection in November 2023, the College was re-rated as good in all areas.

We have a committed and highly capable staff body and governing body who are deeply invested in ensuring the success, all-round development and progression of our students. Brockenhurst College is quite simply a great place to study and to work.

The College is currently at a pivotal point in its development. Over the past 10 months, the SLT has been working closely with the Board of Governors as well as staff, students and employers to shape the broader future strategic direction of the College. A new strategic plan will be in place for September 2024 which will reflect the changing further education landscape alongside the contribution the College will continue to make in meeting its local, regional and national skills needs.

This post is therefore a great opportunity to constructively and positively contribute to the future leadership and direction of Brockenhurst College at an important stage in its development. The breadth of the role and leadership opportunities within it will also provide the successful applicant with the opportunity to develop significantly as an educational professional.

If, after finding out more about the College and the Deputy Principal post in particular, you believe that you have the values, vision, skills and experience to undertake the role, we would very much like to hear from you.

We have appointed FE Associates to support us with this important appointment. Prior to submitting an application, interested parties are advised to arrange an initial conversation with our recruitment partner, by emailing Jo.Johnston@fea.co.uk, to discuss the role before the closing date.
