Across multiple campuses, Birmingham Metropolitan College (BMet) offers vocational courses, apprenticeships, A-levels and access courses.

We are seeking to appoint a fully qualified senior finance professional to provide outstanding leadership. In this high-impact role, you will be responsible for ensuring we achieve strong financial outcomes whilst delivering an excellent service that supports the delivery of exceptional education for all of our students.

About Us - Welcome

Dear colleague,

Thank you for your interest in the role of Finance Director at BMet.

This role has arisen due to an internal promotion following a rigorous process to appoint a replacement CFO. You will be joining and managing a stable and experienced finance and payroll team based at our James Watt site. As a senior college manager and member of the senior leadership team (SLT), you will be responsible for financial management across the organisation including the Sutton Coldfield site, James Watt in Great Barr and the Matthew Boulton site in Birmingham city centre.

BMet has faced a number of challenges over recent years and significantly reduced its number of delivery sites and now operates as a central and northern Birmingham college. Since Covid, BMet has struggled to recoup its adult numbers. However, BMet has seen growth in 16-18 cohorts and also in apprenticeship numbers. With a stable senior management team, BMet is now hoping to build upon recent improvements and deliver on its 2030 strategic plan.

You will be joining us at an exciting time when we will be part way through our £10m Transformation Fund capital project and at the start of our new T Level offer for 16–18-year-old students. We have ambitious plans for further development of our college sites as well as expanding our curriculum offer across the area.
